Melting

I watched a documentary about polar bears struggling to survive because of ice melting due to climate change and it was a heartbreaking experience. Polar bears are big and strong and can swim for a very long time, but they need to rest on the hard surface. But because there is less ice now they need to swim longer and longer distances. And even being big and strong they can’t carry on and carry on swimming… I thought that it’s quite often about people who are perceived as strong too. They expected to carry on and carry on, but they also need hard ground under their feet to have a rest. I painted a melting bear and a lady representing native tribes of the North. She hugs the bear and tells him: ‘Please don’t go…’
